I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for love, whether it’s a man and woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man. I think the ship has sailed and I think the church needs — I think this is the world we are living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are.

Evangelical megapastor Rob Bell endorses marriage equality.

Granddaughters of Fred Phelps -- the founder of virulently anti-gay Westboro Baptist -- leave the church.

You’ll remember these women holding “God Hates Fags” signs at funerals.

Now they’ve resigned from the church and apologized for their actions.

As a pastor who has counseled hundreds of women regarding unintended pregnancies, including women who have suffered awful violence in their lives, I was both saddened and horrified hearing the callousness of Richard Mourdock’s words. How could his heart be so hard? God compels us towards acts of profound justice, compassion, and peace. God calls us to be in caring relationships with those who have suffered the most in this world. We are to bear witness and listen, mindful to not let our arrogance and hubris lead us astray.

Rev. Darcy Baxter

Catholic nuns hopped off of their national bus tour and onto the Staten Island ferry, to highlight how Republican cuts impact poverty.

Sister Simone Campbell said Mitt Romney’s 47 percent comment “broke my heart that he would be so out of touch, that he would so not know the truth of folks at the margins of our society who work so hard.”

Nuns AND Monks challenge Romney

positivelypersistentteach:

think-progress:

Sister Simone Campbell tells Mitt Romney to spend a day with them to learn about the plight of the poor:

Recent advertisements and statements from the campaign of Governor Romney demonize families in poverty and reflect woeful ignorance about the challenges faced by tens of millions of American families in these tough economic times.

We are all God’s children and equal in God’s eyes. Efforts to divide us by class or score political points at the expense of the most vulnerable of our brothers and sisters reveal the worst side of our country’s politics.

I LOVE NUNS!  NUNS ARE THE BEST!

Now, the monks are getting in on this.
