U.S. Military Personnel To Be Punished For Bombing Doctors Without Borders Hospital In Afghanistan

More than a dozen military personnel will be disciplined for a their part in carrying out an airstrike on a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan that killed 42 people. Although none of them will face criminal charges, U.S. defense officials told the Associated Press on Wednesday that a range of punishments will be meted out for the October bombing.

Doctors Without Borders Confirms Its Hospital In Syria Was Hit By Airstrikes

A statement released Tuesday by Doctors Without Borders confirms that a hospital in the Dara’a Governorate in Syria was hit by an airstrike on February 5. The airstrike on the hospital killed three people and wounded an additional six, according to the statement.

The U.S. Defense Secretary described the bombing of a the Médecins sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan as “confused and complicated” but the heads of several prominent international development organizations are demanding accountability. Twenty-two people were killed when U.S. planes bombed the hospital late Saturday night.
